A special kind of group experience!

While gold fever had always disunited the people, the search for the “white gold”, as salt was formerly known, brought them closer together. Under pressure of the dangerous work below ground, the people have formed closely-knit communities to this day. But this special team spirit engendered by working in the mine relates not only to salt mining: it was due to the courage of the miners in April 1945 that Europe’s most valuable works of art did not fall victim to the insatiable sea of flame of the Second World War!

An award-winning multimedia show takes visitors back to those turbulent days – an ideal and penetrating excursion for firms or clubs!

The walk together through the mine also offers a moving group experience, as does the drop into the depths of the mine on swift wooden slides and the “Treasure Chamber of Inner Light” with the Chapel of St Barbara: built of natural salt stones, it is the sacred place of the Altaussee Salt Mine.
