Auf Schatzsuche im Berg in den Salzwelten Hallein

On a treasure hunt in the Hallein Saltmine

Salt was earlier described as “white gold”: and it is a fact that the deposits created the treasure chamber of the region millions of years ago in the Dürrnberg near Hallein. More than about 2,500 years ago the Celts were already mining this precious gift of the mountain, which is proved by the impressive traces they have left behind.
In the oldest mine in the world open to visitors, those large and small from the age of four take off on a treasure hunt – and follow the mysterious, ancient miners’ tunnels for many kilometres into the mystic mountain.
