On the Trail of Salt: Salt Mine and Schloss Trautenfels

Nature and culture, interesting insights and magnificent views: At Schloss Trautenfels, you and your pupils will spend a day focused on the region’s rich history. You will begin your day with a journey into the fascinating “Mountain of Treasures”, Altaussee Salt Mine. Afterwards, you will set off to Schloss Trautenfels on the trail of “white gold”. Once you are there at the castle, you will be able to learn even more about the (mining) history of the region.

The "Schloss Trautenfels" school package includes

  • Admission to the salt mine and special school tour "Subterranean Classroom" (duration: ca. 80 minutes)
  • School tour and creativity program during a visit to the special exhibition at Schloss Trautenfels

Price: 11.50 EUR per person
(every 11th person free)

And this is what your school trip might look like

  • 10 a.m.: Guided school tour of Altaussee Salt Mine (total length of visit: about 2 hours)
  • 12 p.m.: If desired, lunch at one of our partner restaurants
  • 2 p.m.: Departure for Schloss Trautenfels (about a 45-min drive)
  • 3 p.m.: Visit to the collections at Schloss Trautenfels (ca. 2 hours)
  • Then depart for home
