Deep tunnels and lofty heights: Salt Mine & Hohenwerfen Fortress

After the entertaining tour through the salt mine comes your next exciting adventure – Hohenwerfen Fortress perched high above the Salzach Valley. This medieval bastion once counted the Salt Prince amongst its many prisoners. Nowadays, the castle has been transformed into a true Adventure Fortress, with one of its unique attractions being the historic State Falconry, where a daily falconry is given featuring a number of different birds of prey. Your walk up to the castle takes you along a shady footpath (about 15 minutes).
For an additional fee, you can ride an elevator straight up to the upper castle courtyard.
